Battery Storage and Organisation

In our house we have a junk drawer.  I say A junk drawer but I am sure there are more than one.  This particular one has been bugging me for weeks.  It is in a central area of our house and has beome a dumping ground for everything that does not belong somewhere else.  The biggest culprit of drawer cluttering were random batteries!  I had “swooped” on the clever idea to use a tackle box to sort and contain batteries from a blog post from the ever organising Bowl Full Of Lemons.

So off I went to one of my favourite “dollar” store (The Reject Shop for those that want specifics) and found a large, sturdy plastic “tackle box” for a whole $5.   I loved that the compartments inside the tackle box were adjustable with little plastic dividers.  I simply sorted the batteries by type. Labelled each compartment and …..

There you have it!

My tip for finding the right container is look for one with a depth of more than 4.5cm.  This size is typical of a “tackle box” found in hardware or fishing stores.  The plastic “craft storage boxes” are not as deep or sturdy.

Apparently if you store your batteries in the Fridge they will last longer too!
