What kind of closet case are you?

So yesterday I tackled my wardrobe.  With the enthusiasm of a mixed teams D grade football player.  But it had to be done.  Last week I worked four days in a row and every day I grabbed one hundred outfits off a multitude of hangers, tried them on and threw them on the floor.  Needless to say my wardrobe was looking more like a floordrobe.  With the incentive of some retail therapy once the job was done, I kicked off.

As I began hanging, sorting, culling and folding I began thinking.  This was a big job there was lots of time to ponder.  Does anybody have a perfectly organised wardrobe?   That stays that way?  Seriously?  I have been all kinds of closet case

1. Practically Perfect.  All clothes on matching hangers, primarily sorted by type but also sorted according to the colours of the rainbow.  Everything fits, everything is in fashion. Ok who I am kidding this has never happened to me, but a girl can dream.

2. Sort of Sorted. Everything is sorted by type.   Occasionally an item slips off a wonky hanger and remains on the floor for a few days.  Clothes are folded but tend to accumulate in mismatched piles.  You try to have an organised wardrobe, but it’s not high on the priority list.

3. Happy Hoarder. I have clothes. They are in a wardrobe.  If I haven’t worn it this month, it is hanging, that’s my system.  Most things fit, but I have clothes that are pre baby, maternity and post baby because you never know when I will loose that baby weight.  If you look closely you will find I still have my stonewashed high wasited jeans from 1989 and a Hypercolour T-Shirt.

4.Desperately Delusional.  I have a floordrobe and a washing pile,  hey I have piles I must be organised.

I must admit I have lived in the last three closets at some time in my life.  Generally somewehere between Despeerately Delusional and Happy Hoarder.

So what kind of closet case are you?

No judgement people, after all I had stonewashed jeans!

  1. This is sneaky of me, as I have only just cleaned out my wardrobe, but at the moment it’s looking somewhere between picture 1 and picture 2. I don’t have the fancy layout of pic 1, but its organised. I have my clothes sorted in colours. But like in Pic 2, mine are quite squished up and I should probably cull a whole lot more out. I am just waiting until after I have had this baby…. Bahahahaha!!!

You don’t need the fancy layout Jac! And it would cost a fortune, whatever works for you is the best solution! I still have maternity clothes but only because they are soo comfy!

I’m the second type. The mostly organised. And NOTHING makes me crazier than those wonky hangers and things that slip off them! Ugh.

Well ok. That’s not true. Lots of things make me crazier. But for the purpose of this blog post…..lets pretend.

That first one is kind of awesome! Is that yours now?

Hmm…I guess I’m sort of sorted by the looks of it. I’d like to wish that I was practically perfect, but that is totally delusional of me to even hope so. But not really sort of sorted. Maybe I’m a cross between practically perfect and sort of sorted. I do have my folded clothes arranged in order : skirts, dresses, pants, short sleeved tops etc. But those that are hanging are not hung according to colour, although they are hung up by type – jackets, dresses etc.

Definitely desperately delusional!! We’re in the middle of redesigning our walk in wardrobe, and I just can’t face putting stuff in there until it’s sorted out properly. My dad is doing it for us, and I’m waiting for him to finish getting their house ready for sale. Hopefully everything will have a space soon.

  5. Definitely Sort Of Sorted. I do have a system according to type, and being slightly Sheldon-esque, you’d think my husband could play along when he puts my washing away, but no. He just shoves them in wherever. Drives me bonkers!!

  6. I loved my hypercolour T-shirt that I bought from Jeans west – it was purple and changed to bright pink! Eventually it just stayed an off pink colour and I had to throw it out when the holes got too big!

    • Larissa says:

No!!!!! Not the hypercolour T-shirt!!! Seriously between you and me if I had one I still have it stored away somewhere just too cool to part with!!!

  7. LOL As a working mum I am the most disorganised housekeeper and until today my whole house was the desperately delusional floor robe. Making use of my time off on the school holidays to start to get things sorted. Also making plenty of use of my slave labour …er I mean beautiful children, particularly as they are the source of the disgusting… er I mean untidy situation that we are in. (I have been warning them that the Easter Bunny doesnt come to messy houses so they better hurry up and help me). A couple of hours yesterday and my boy’s room was spotless. Yay. Today for an hour or so we tackled the lounge and hallway. It was tiring reminding them if it didn’t go in the toybox or the laundry it was going in the bin but we’ve gotten there and I am amazed to say the floor is now clean (Oh thats right, we do have tiles after all, not a multicoloured 3 dimensional obstacle course) and I can finally mop out. Yay.

Oh I hear you!!! If I could get really organised these holidays I am hoping my working week may be easier? Then I just have to stay on top of it!!! If only our employers could hire housekeepers for us!!! Thanks for stopping by!
